Our Story
In the spring of 2017, members of Love In Action United Church of Christ, its Pastor Josh Blakesley, and members Niki Kulp and Jaden Goldsmith, started a community group for LGBT+ individuals and allies that met in the church’s building. Eventually, this initiative grew to host activity nights and support groups and was supported and co-led by other LGBT+ community members and allies. The vision and dream to create an LGBTQIA+ center also led to the opening of a queer library.
Then called SAGA [Sexuality And Gender Acceptance], this initiative became one of the original programs of the 501[c][3] nonprofit, The Welcome Project PA [WPPA], born of a need for more acceptance and support for the LGBTQIA+ community of Montgomery and Bucks Counties. What began as a small community group has grown to include various LGBT+ services and programs. Our in-person events and programs are located at 350 S. York Rd. in Hatboro PA.
All of our programs are either free or low-cost/sliding scale for our community members. Help us keep widening the welcome by supporting these vital programs!
Please feel free to contact us if you need to talk or have questions! Our programs curate “safe and brave space” for all LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies by providing community building, support, activities, education, and advocacy for the local community. We are an interfaith and no-faith affirming space for all sexes, genders, sexual expressions, and linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
