Immigrant Justice/Justicia para Recién Llegados

History
Immigrant Rights Action came into being as a neighborhood collective that immediately responded to a call to action in March 2017 in response to an ICE raid in Doylestown that apprehended four young restaurant workers. They crowdsourced funding to secure legal representation for them and thereby created a grassroots group focused on ensuring legal access to Bucks County’s immigrant community. IMRA became a volunteer-led nonprofit 501(c)3 in 2019. In 2022, they welcomed their first paid Executive Director and have been immigrant-led from the start.
Immigrant Rights Action officially merged with The Welcome Project PA in May 2025. WPPA is grateful to welcome Director Heidi Roux to our staff! All of IMRA’s services and programs are now part of WPPA.
Our Immigrant Justice Program provides transportation and accompaniment to legal consultations, court hearings and ICE supervision visits, an attorney referral program, financial support from their community legal defense fund, advocacy, and mental health resources.
Our services make it possible for families to quickly retain effective counsel in immigration cases. Our advocacy has taken us from borough governments, local police departments, and county court administration to face-to-face meetings with state legislators and U.S. Representatives.
We seek to ensure that the human rights of our neighbors are upheld. We do this through access to immigration legal services, education, connection to community resources, and collaboration with allies.
This program has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice as the only non-profit initiative that provides access to legal immigration services in Bucks County. Currently, we provide Free Legal Clinics, Attorney Referrals, and other services at our location in Montgomery County, PA and in Bucks County.
