Announcing the Official Merger with Immigrant Rights Action!

PRESS RELEASE 05/15/25

The Staff and Board of Directors of The Welcome Project PA [WPPA] are excited to announce that as of May 1st, 2025, WPPA has officially merged with Immigrant Rights Action [IMRA], a nonprofit out of Bucks County. For the past year, WPPA and IMRA have been meeting with consultants and attorneys to explore the possibility of a legal partnership, thanks to a generous grant from the Nonprofit Repositioning Fund. After various meetings of both Boards, the decision was unanimous to pursue an official merger.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

The Welcome Project PA will continue as a nonprofit 501[c][3] organization that serves both LGBTQ+ and immigrant communities. Immigrant Rights Action will dissolve and join WPPA as its Immigrant Justice Program. IMRA Executive Director Heidi Roux will join WPPA as Director of Immigrant Justice.

THE IMPACT

Uniting our strengths, resources, and voices will enable us to build greater capacity to meet the growing demand for our services — and doing so with a shared commitment to our mission of uplifting community members, building resiliency and agency, and working towards a more welcoming world for all.

Currently, we know that immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other marginalized communities face interconnected challenges. That is why it is imperative that we work together across identities and movements to build inclusive systems of support and of advocacy.

Together, we are stronger. Together, we will continue fighting so everyone can live with dignity, safety and opportunity. Thank you for helping us Widen the Welcome!

As part of the merger exploration and implementation, WPPA was able to work with Brown & Chase, a full-service branding agency that fully aligns with WPPA’s mission. Thanks to the Nonprofit Repositioning Fund, we were able to discern ways to both honor the work and legacy of Immigrant Rights Action and the early years of The Welcome Project PA. We are grateful for Shannon and Abby’s work on this new branding, and we are excited to also reveal our new Pride logo at our Bucks-Mont Pride Festival on June 29th.

In Love and Solidarity,

The Welcome Project PA Board of Directors
Heidi Roux and Josh Blakesley
